There are 3 Vaccination your dog is required to have to attend daycare and boarding, and it is very important that all 3 are kept up to date with yearly boosters.
Vanguard 5 Plus or DHPPI – vaccinates against distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus and parainfluenza. These are all potentially life threatening.
Lepto – vaccinates against leptospirosis which is transmitted in the urine of rodents/possums/affected animals. It causes a severe kidney failure and can be transmitted to people, so poses a human health risk.
Kennel Cough or Bronchishield – vaccinates against components of kennel cough. Canine cough is easily transmitted between dogs when they meet, such as during a walk, at dog parks, in boarding kennels or rescue centres. It can even spread in situations where dogs are just socialising, such as training classes, dog shows, or meeting up with friend’s dogs.
Like the human flu vaccination, it doesn’t provide 100% protection but reduces the severity and decreases shedding.
If your dog is showing any signs of illness while at daycare such as vomiting, diarrhoea, coughing or is presenting with fleas/ticks or warts etc we will separate your dog and ask for you to collect them immediately to prevent contamination and infection of other dogs.
